Where to find rides and riders, and create your own club or group site
      #3556 - 23/06/2008 01:42

Greetings, I'm going around to various cycling forums, clubs and friends announcing the launch of the cycling community site http://cyclee.com, where you can share and communicate with other local riders in your area or accross the globe. The site works much like myspace or facebook etc. but better since the site is focused specifically on cycling, MTB, etc.

I will continue to be adding features to the site that make it customized to the cycling community. The best thing about the cyclee site is that that we now have a central meeting place for all cyclists. I also see that many people ride more then one type of bike or style, and other sports that are related like triathlons, cyclee is a home for all your riding as most of us don't just ride only road or MTB etc.

The main benifits and features of the site are

* Rider profile-You can create your online personal riding profile, and where you can discover other riders in your area with similar intrests. Upload pictures of your bikes etc.
* Ride Groups-You can form any type of riding group you like, a club group, a group of friends, local bike shop group etc.
* Ride Calendar- You can organize and coordinate rides between your friends, riding clubs, bike shop groups etc. all within one calendar section
* Ride Blog/Journal- You can create and read other member's blogs,
* Ride photo gallery- In the "your files" area you can create your own personal or club photo gallery
* Ride videos- You can embed videos or your rides into your blog posts or post and share them on your group's pages
* Ride files- You can upload and share, GPS files, Google earth files, trail maps, photos etc.
* Access control- you can control what the public, friends or your groups you create or belong to can view or have access too. You can create a totally private group, for your secret free riding spot where other members can't see what you're doing or join, or you can be completely transparent and allow new site visitors the ability to see all of your groups posts and pictures etc.

Joining is easy you simply go to this page and enter your name and email address and you'll be emailed a confirmation, that's it.

Any feedback or suggestions you may have are welcome, and if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Thanks,
AdminStan

I understand that there is overlap with the cyclee.com site and and a dozen other sites. They cyclee site is a bit different as it's not really focused on discussing things at length but more about the riders themselves and finding new riders. It's not another cycling forum site.

The thing that makes the cyclee.com site unique is that we're focusing on helping riders interact in the way they want to interact and organize the way they want. We're not excluding road cyclist or tri-athletes etc. we realize that most riders ride more then just MTB or just road etc. Most serious riders do lots of different riding and have multiple bikes. So you can find roadies, MTBers, etc. all in your town that you could ride with.

And the site really is trying to help facilitate putting rides together or finding new ride partners, outside of your local bike shop or club with it's fancy jerseys. Every member and every group that you can create all have their own ride calendar.

Also there is no free cycling club web site system, so the cyclee site can double as cycling club platform as well.

So the theme of the cyclee site is the openness to riders of all types and sizes and abilities, and it helping create the opportunity for riders to find ride partners with similar abilities, even if it's just one or two new riding friends, that's better then nothing, or just your fast cycling club team.

HE HE ... only joking anyway , I don't have anything against other sites/forums and ,like greeneye said, I am all for getting riders and rides together. The only draw back with advertising other sites on your own site is that it can sometimes lead to groups seperating as different people tend to wonder off to other sites and it then can lead to the original site becoming short of members - won't happen on here though as we all love juicy fruit to much LOL
