Hi proph,
Is it Rourkes you're waiting for the part from?
If so I've heard other rumours of poor service and dissatisfaction.

i was off work for about 2 months, because of the the lack of work so i was going every other day and doing a big ride, and some times i went 2 days in a row, so my fitness went sky high, now im back in work, im not getting a chance to go, like today i got home about about 4 then my tea is guna be ready about 4:30 i dont really wana ride on a full stomach.

how does everyone else fair off with this?
i simply have my tea when i get back, easiest solution and obviously your body needs feeding after a longer distance ride out, makes logical sense to do it the other way - tea after! they have microwaves in wales dont they?!?!?

I do about 50 miles per week currently.
Around 12 to and from work on the road about 3 times per week.
Around 15 - 20 on a weekend combination of road / trans pennine trail.
Now the summer is here and the nights are light I plan to up it to about 70 miles per week.

On average I'm out twice a week covering 20-30 miles in a around 3-4 hours. It's normally a mix of foresty roads and trails with a bit of canal towpath to finish off. If the mood takes us we might stop of for a swift half on the way round which adds to the fun on the home stretch !!!

Its true the more you do you the more you want. Recently i have been doing 2 or three 1.5hr rides off road during the week all off road with lots of climbing about 8-10 miles and a couple of 3 hrs rides at the weekend . I have been doing lots more road recently with an average evening ride of about 20 miles and up to 35 at the weekend . I seem to hit a wall at 35 miles but it is very hilly around here .
Just back from 2 weeks holiday in the sun where all i could do was swim lengths . My upper body feels fitter but my cycling has gone to sh!t ,Iam finding the rides i mention above very hard and my legs turn to jelly on the road rides . I have been back a week now and I don't seem to have improved at all every ride is really hard

I ride on the road pretty much all the time, bit annoying considering my bike was born for trails, but there aint a great deal else round here.
Occasionally (less than once a week) ride to work, 12 miles each way, mostly on road, mostly flat.
Rarely (less than once a month) visit trail centres, usually do the hardest route but potter along at a snails pace.
Disclaimer; I ride purely for enjoyment, I have no desire to get fit or race anyone.

So far it's been a case or trying to rebuild my fitness, so it's been 14 to 20km rides with around 400m of climbing (Sportstrackers great).
6km is on the road though.
Finding it very tough going, but i'm determined to get fit enough to enjoy the uphills like i used to, rather than having to stop ever 50m to get me breath back.
Cheers Mark

If it is just a ride on my regular route then I sometimes have to push myself to go out, especially if the weather is rubbish. So, i get home about 16.30 go and get changed immediately, scoff a soe light trail fodder (banana's, cereal bars, etc) chuck the bike in the car and go. If i allow myself to get distracted then i could be in trouble. The upside is that this winter i rode between once and twice during the week for about 15 miles (whatever the weather) and a long more demanding ride at the weekwends. The result is I am now happily riding trails that had me walking last year.....it really is worth the effort to have a go during the week if you can. Cheers

I am interested to find out what is the concensus from the forum on what a typical ride is in terms of length, duration etc. There seems to be a whole host of ability, fitness, enthusiasm on here, so what is the typical distance, terrain, duration people are covering on a typical ride (I stress the word typical as not really interested in bragging rights for one offs )
Hi, I try to ride about 15/20 miles twice a week (my regular ride is not that hilly so i have to pedal hard to have any effect on my fitness) and then go for a decent 25/30 mile ride at the weekend. In terms of fitness, i suppose I am reasonably average as I like my food and beer too much! Cheers

i try to get a ridein at the weekend on bodmin usualy 20/30km ish at between 2 or 3 hours in addition once or twice a week in the local lanes which can be hard going on a mtb of 24km i am trying to get that one in under an hr but at the moment my best is 1.02. i have not done much over the last 5/6 yrs and am working hard on fittness and reducing the jelly belly fairly quickly. i think its hard to compare to other riders as i ride by myself.

Monday nights I will try and get out for a 2 - 2/12 hr ride. At the moment I am planning a club route for a run in July. This means bridalways and maps. I am looking for a run of about 20 - 25 miles in total.
Occasional Tuesdays. In the winter, another club will run skills sessions. These are primalrily cyclocross, but it is a good way to spend an hour. It is about 1/2 hour ride away and lasts about 1 hr.
Wednesday. Club ride. Typical club rides are 25 miles XC.
Occasional ride to work. 15 miles. This is only when I am in center.
Weekends. Usually this is family time, but I will take my daughter (6) out for a pootle around Grapham water. I also do the occasional trail center (Cannock and Thetford), as well as training laps around Rutland or Grapham.
If you have Nokia Sportstracker loaded on your PC, you can see some of my routes. Zoom in on Northans and look for routes by wolf12as.
Luck

I try to get out at least once a week and do 20-30K XC or trail centre. If I can manage twice or thrice a week I'm doing well but they're rare and usually decrease in length due to being knackered. At the moment I am also commuting 1-3 times a week, a 14 mile round trip but that's really weather dependant as I'm not getting wet going to work but I don't mind on the return. Oh and I'm still not loosing weight . GT

i was going to make a joke about my girlfriend but best not! my riding varies from week to week depending if i can fit it in, from 15km to 25 km i'd say. i try and keep virtually all of it off road where possible though. Im mainly a leisure biker and defo do not rush/race although i am trying to get fitter ( slowly but surely ) as pushing up most hills lost its fun after a bit!

I try to do 2 or 3 one hour rides off road in the morning before work. I'm a teacher so I only do big 3-4 hour rides once a week in the holidays.
I find the 1 hour rides keep my fitness reasonable as I tend to blast it. There's enough technical stuff on my local loop to keep me on my toes.
Wish I had time to ride more TBH
