Hello all, just started posted on here and after some advice already -
Decided to sell my '07 Trek Top Fuel and invest in something All Mountainy. What bikes would everyone recommend and why? Main ones I've been looking at are the Lapierre Spicy, Orange 5 and Spec Enduro. Another option is to buy a Santa Cruz Nomad frame fairly cheap and build it up.
Any ideas at all people?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Bill WTTF,
Many good bikes on your list, some further info would be useful like how much do you have to spend, what bits are more important, travel, bling, toughness, looks etc...

Alright mate,
WTTF
From the list you've got it depends how all-mountainy you want to go - the 5 is more of a big hitting trail bike whilst the Spicy is a much "bigger" machine...
Like MTBleague said, we need more info!

Thanks for the replies people!
As far as budget is concerned I could probably go up to £2-2.5k. I've got a Big Hit 3 for messing around on and throwing down the dh runs so I'm looking for an all mountain bike to get out on the trails. I found the Trek was an excellent bike, really quick but pretty skittish on the loose descents, the ride position seemed a bit steep too. Basically I'd like something that won't be a nightmare uphill but can take good hits and is comfortable on most surfaces.
Oh yeah and I'd like the moon on a stick too place ha!!!!
Thanks for the help!

I can reccommend the 5 as I am a proud owner and am really chuffed with it! Definatly not skittish on the DH, and the ride position will be more relaxed than the Top fuel. Don't get me wrong, it's not super sprightly on the ups, but I have been on many worse. Its by far the best compromise for me to get me to the top with the least effort, and put the biggest smile on my face on the downs.....
The money you are shelling out screams test rides galore!!!

People - it has come down to a direct shoot out between a Heckler and a P5. I can get a Heckler for a good price and also the P5 for a good price. Decisions decisions! What do you think?

I suspect everybody has a little bit of a current fav, usually the bike they are on, my 2p is the Enduro, you already know what Spech are like warranty etc, as you already have one.
Many good options out there for your price enjoy the agonizing, more like a kid in a sweet shop with lots to spend!

I've been working away so probably missed out on the Heckler, but there was a fully built ex demo available for around £2200.
More I look into it I'm going to have to be a nationalist and purchase the Orange! Damn me and my xenophobia.
I'm venturing to the bike shop when I return home on Friday. Any idea how long delivery will take and do I go for White or Black?

Why not all black (hub and everything) but with white rims and grips?

Woah there just one minute!
What about the Orange Alpine? It's like a cross between a Spicy and a 5. Looks flipping awesome too.

Decided on the white, was going to have the black rims but Orange are too busy to do the colour co-ordinated rims at the minute
Looked at the Alpine but it was probably a bit too much bike for what I want, Pro will be fine. I still do a lot of cross country and to descend where I ride you first need to climb, the Alpine just seemed to be heavy for this.
Bike due in 3 weeks. Cannot wait!!!!!
