I am moving from flats to spds and was wondering what everyone uses?

Have been looking at M520's are these a good pedal to start off with?

Thanks Matt

Yes and it couldn't be easier. There are two hex bolts on each pedal with +/- next to them to tell you which way to turn them.

I used to have Crank Bros... no tension setting - but didnt ever find that a problem.

I recently canged to the M770's (XT) - a bit more expensive but have got XT on the side!! and am very pleased with them. I have knocked them a couple of times while pedaling round corners though - didnt get this with the Crank Bros!!

The change was made after good reviews of the Shimanos and the inability to service my CBs easily...

I intend to thrash the Shimanos for about a year and then decide which is the better choice of SPD!

Personally, I have trashed two sets of Crank Bros pedals in the last 12 months - not impressed - so have now moved to Time ATAC's, which have a very good rep. Surely can't go wrong with Shimanos either.

Cheers

I've got 520's on my road bike, they're spot on.

Have Shimano ever made a bad SPD pedal? Bearing in mind they all work in the same way, the only difference being the materials they are made of.
