Can anyone help me, I have read much about how shortening your stem makes for a better ride. How do I know if I need to shorten my stem? what things will my bike be doing if the stem is to long???

I own a scott genius mc50 2007

Well...

How long is the stem you have at present?

Shorter stem = quicker turning, longer = slower.

Long article in MBR May 08.

Longer bars = more leverage = quicker turning, shorter = less.

Then you've got cockpit length, do you feel cramped or over streteched? Stem length helps that too.

So, if you want to alter any of the above fill your boots, if your happy with your bikes handling spend the money on a dvd, Chinese takeaway (what do the Chinese call domestic takeaway food?) and a few beers.
