Am looking at a Commencal Combi Deluxe as my first 'proper' mountain bike as I can get one at the upper end of my budget.
Does anyone have one and would you recommend them?

I think commecal as a brand are pretty well thought about. I'd think if you post how much you are willing to spend you may get a few more suggestions.
Like me folks here are a bit lazy and can't be bothered to find out what they cost at the moment.

Well I can get the Combi Deluxe for about £600. Initially I wasn't looking to spend more than £500 but I can stretch to that given the price it is - seems like a lot of bike for the money and at a decent spec.

In that case run to the shops quick and pick up the soon to be last months issue. It's got this years dirty dozen in it; 12 of the best sub £600 hardtails. New issue is out on the 1st July iirc.
You may also save some cash by looking for some 08 spec bikes.... You need to have a good search at places like, evans cycles, winestanelys and paula cycles... Don't limit to those giuys but they have some cracking deals...

Have you test ridden the bike? If you have and you feel good with it...I'd say 600quid well spent. As you said a lot of bike for the money!
