Disc Brakes - cable routing
      #34786 - 25/06/2009 13:51

Hey folks,

I'm hoping to fit my new disc brakes tomorrow but there's one thing I'm a bit unsure about. I can't see any way to pass the cable/tube through the routing on the top tube without taking it off either the caliper or the master cylinder, and that means bleeding the entire system, right? The brakes are pre-bled and I didn't want to have to tamper with them. I'm considering using zip-ties until the brakes need maintenance for the first time.

Anybody got any better ideas???

The frame is an Orange Gringo (hardtail). Basically, it looks as if I can squeeze the cable into the brackets on the chainstay, but the two "loops" on the top tube only have narrow slits.

If it's just normal cable routing mounts on your toptube the brake hoses may not fit in at all, in wwhich case it'll have to be cable ties, or a velcro type watch strap (which is alot kinder to frame) or these things:
