Following on from the post in The Lounge...
Sir_Q and I have decided that this bivvying idea is a winner and needs to be given a go! To that end we're planning a 40-odd mile epic xc route in the Lakes spread over the afternoon of the 4th and morning of the 5th (ie Sat/Sun). The route will be fairly demanding but easily doable (if that's not too much of a contradiction  )
For the sake of security (ie several Łks worth of bikes left pretty much unattended whilst everyone's asleep) we've decided to only discuss the actual locations via PM. Also at the minute we're thinking of limiting the group to those who have ridden with either Sir_Q or myself or who is "vouched for" by someone we know for the same reasons. We hope everyone understands our logic.
As far as kit etc goes I have quite a bit that I can loan out so don't let that put you off! There's also potential for a "sheltered bivvy" (ie collapsed barn) if the weather is too bad for the full outdoors experience. But even then it'll be July so we might get a bit damp but I'm nearly 50% certain that no-one will actually die 
So who's up for it then?!

Oh - apparently there's going to be some dodgy bike mechanic on the ride (oops! That'd be me ) so who fancies carrying the drop out alignment tooling?
I bags the hex key set and the T25 torx bit.
C'mon - lets have it.
We get enough of us and we can get a Keg on one of those bike trailer jobbies!

I can do any weekend and I'm off the first week in August so if anybody wants to suggest an alternative date I'm fine with it...
It'd be good to get a few bods, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned!

My plan for the following weekend was to head up to Whinlatter and hit the blue in the early evening, then blast round for the day on Saturday then on sunday (or possibly saturday evening) stop off at Stainburn on the way home... time permitting that is.... which i'm sure it will be.
I was about to put a shout out to see if anyone else was up for a bit of it, then you guys had this little plan hatched... A fine one it is too, I'll have a word with my mate who I'm heading up with, see what he thinks..
Edit; If you fancied a repeat in August I could find the time and get a pass out too I think.

seems silly that we have to be approved?

I think the approval thing has come across a bit wrong.
What we don't want to do is advertise our exact whereabouts to the entire universe so we can be bopped on the head in the middle of nowhere and have several thousand pounds worth of bicycles spirited away at 3 in the morning. No more or less than that.
Not looking to be eliteist just cautious.
