im just guna put this out there to see what reaction/interest it gets.
as we all know the coast 2 coast is a feather we really should have in our mtb cap so how about throwing some ideas together to see if we could get it organized.
to keep it easy im thinking of it being done over 2 riding days, this way its only 1 night sleep over and it may well fit into everyones scheduel a little easier.
digs could be a camp out or b&b, we would need a back up vehicle/driver which could carry all food, drink, spares, tools camping equipment (if needded) and anything else so the riders just need there hydration pack.
im thinking september time so we still have enough day light for riding and getting sorted in the evening.
this could be a really good c2c ride if we all put some effort in, maybe a little training to.
thoughts please...

How far is it? I'd think it would be really good fun.
August bank holiday would give a little extra time.
I'm defo interested.

Depends on which one you do.
The hadrian is about 80 miles. (i think)
Whitehaven to sunderland is 140 miles.
Or there is St bees to robin hoods bay 220 miles. (i think)

We're doing it over the August bank holiday this year (again). 3 days is a really fun way to do it. Gives you a chance to stop and enjoy the view from time to time. I'd love the chance to do it over 2, but it's quite a big ask. You're going to have to get to somewhere like Alston, which means 2 huge climbs on the first day (onto Whinlatter and Hartside), and 2 huge climbs on the second day (out of Nenthead and Crawleyside). It may break us mere mortals. I have no doubt that Mr Green is more than capable though...

3 of us are doing C2C next weekend, we were gonna do it over 3 day's but the challenge of doin it it 2 was to great.
I'm sure the big climb's are gonna kill me, but were doin it for "charity mate".
At the end of day 1 i'm sure were all gonna hate each other, and the world, and motorist's, and rain and sun and so on and so on.
Can't wait though sure it will be great..

No!!! It hurts to see these discussions!
I would love to do something like that. I would dearly love to drive up and join all you guys on these outings you organise. But...
with two young children, 1 and 4 years old, it is virtually impossible to get away. I manage to get 1 day per family holiday, if there is any riding nearby, to get out in the wild. Then there is my wife's work conference between Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains where I will be looking longingly at the hills and not be able to get out as I will have both kids while she is in conference sessions.
Oh well! Won't be too much longer (they grow up so quickly) before either they come with me on shorter, easier rides, or they don't want to do things with their dad, and then I will be free!!

i always think of the c2c being Whitehaven to sunderland.
it is a long way but doing it over 2 days is an exceptable time, it will mean that we will all need to get some extra miles under our belts but thats nothing a little hardcore 'get up and go' wont sort out.
keep your thoughts coming.

Don't do it. It sucks major ass. It looks like a fantastic shortcut on the map, but it was THE bit responsible for Rob_A's biggest proper "give me someone to throttle NOW" face. He crested that hill a broken man because of that offroad bit.
