XT is the range above SLX, therefore it is the better product, its more expensive, looks a bit better, and prob is slightly more reliable, but SLX is really good stuff and reasonably priced.

XT for me thanks. Although I'd probably try to scrape the pennies together to go for XTR/X0.

The emphasis seems to be on XC, which sounds to me like it could be a bit fragile.... Could be wrong.

after mopping up the drool......

SLX is regarded as being a tougher more durable set. The XT range is much lighter.

If you are going to knock your steed about a bit - and dont worry about a little more weight, save your pennies and get the SLX. If you want a lighter (smoother?) set, XT!

I've got XT chainset etc and XTR mechs - works well and cant seem to be able to justify going full XTR
(well not yet, anyway!)

Oh my god, that redwin would look amazing on my bike. I wonder how long it would take me to save up for them if i stopped feeding my children?

Yup, Muldoon's been riding it in the next issue (Summer). It's expensive. Very expensive - you could buy a complete trail bike with the amount it costs!
Tis good though, it seems

Al very nice but will the longevity be up there with the pricing I wonder.
From someone who goes through 2 XT rear mechs a year, 3 Casettes and 7 chains!!

I'll be sticking with my XT/XTR/Race Face combo.

Oh, and ditto DISGreece, XT lighter but not as tough as SLX.
Horses for swimming pools etc.

You must REALLY like climbing a lot of hills....
I live in Sheffield and I maybe get onto a 3rd chain in a year, that's including my commute everyday (about 7 miles in total).... I thought I was wearing them out quick...
