creaking coming from toptube/headset

whenever i move my handlebars forward or backwards they creak. i know this shouldn't be happening. what should i do??

At my age, it's not the bike that creaks when i move.

most probs need to give your heaset bearings a lube up

I was going to suggest just not moving the handlebars backwards and forwards.

I'm confused is it your bars or top tube/headset creaking? If it's your headset/toptube try tightening your headset.

without going into torque measurements....

are you using a standard allen key to tighten?
You may think it's tight enough, but there could still be a little more tightening to do - try the longer length keys..

(had one of the kids round here complaining about a loose crankarm - when he saw me reach for an allen key - he told me he had already tightened it - I got a good 1/4 turn from a long allen key!! problem solved!!

Check your stem bolts. Loose headsets don't creak, they clunk with very obvious play. Failing that, check for cracks in your handlebars and in any of the welds around the headtube area.

ive had the same problem mate, i took the front end apart and tightened everything after cleaning and lubing bearings.
not been on a serious ride yet though so cant comment if it worked.
