Rear Brake !!!!!!!!!
      #33830 - 15/06/2009 17:24

Hi guys,

I'm at the end of my tether with my rear brake ('08 XT),i have a vibration and the most terrible noise under light gradual braking, worse when hot,so far i have cleaned and refaced the pads, cleaned the calliper and disc reset calliper pistons, recentred calliper to disc, ive spoken to a few guys who thought it sounded like contaminated pads so i changed them....no difference.

Any ideas ???

Try getting the disc mounts faced at your LBS, maybe they are slightly out of alignment and this can cause unecessary vibrations to set in.

Have you re-torqued the rotor mounting bolts?

Could be the rear wheels bearings are a bit loose, try wobbling it from side to side a bit, if it does then this may introduce some noise.

Now please don't think I'm daft here as I dont have XTs, But, Is the tension spring between the brake pads there, or, in the right position?

Like wot I posted in the other one, there can be many causes, eliminate them one at a time if poss.

Are the pads by the same maker? tried swapping back to front?
