Hi, I have entered Passportes Du Soleil on a whim and am not sure what to expect now it draws near! I'll be riding a Specialized Enduro and have ridden around chamonix once before so have some idea of the terrain, just not the actual course and the other entrants. Does anyone have any tips/advice from having done it before? Full body armour necessary?
Thanks Owain

Hi Owain
I'd say full facer is a must and body armour a good idea - some of the runs it takes you down are pretty quick.
It's a brilliant event, rode it last year and had a great time. But don't dawdle cos it can take a while to get round and you don't want to miss the last lift back to where you're staying!

Thanks - am doing the 45km rather than the full 75Km (figured I'd ease myself in!) but will keep the pace up as you say! Owain

Try and get there a few days before, too. That way you can have a day getting into the kind of riding you're gonna do. have a good un

Be ready for the weather - it's the Alps and the forecast doesn't look too healthy.
Beef your tyres up a bit - I ran High Roller 2.35 last year and they were superb in the dry - might need to take a mud option.
Take spare brake pads and ride within yourself.
It's a great event I'm back this year on the Sunday 75km - fly out Thursday am, Back Monday with a smile soo big - can't wait

So how was it?
Danny, Muldoon and I rode it on Saturday, pretty good but we modified the route a little to cut out some of the fireroad descents. So much fun, totally shattered afterwards though!
