I usually ride for fun, but have been talked into a 5 mile charity race, which I know is easily within my capability.
Yeah, I know 5 miles is nothing
What I want to know is an average riding time for this distance.
In the gym I usually cover 10K's in 22 mins with very little effort.
Is this slow? Just asking cos I've got nothing to compare with

I'd say if it's fairly flat under 20 mins is a sinch.
Do the math, 18 miles an hour is a good pace and not impossible, so that's 3 miles every 10 minutes.

ye 18 mph isnt alot on a FLAT cycle path, all depends on the wind, what type of tyres, and what psi you run them at its amazing how easy road riding is when you have just done a big off road ride.
im not saying road riding is easy just saying easier than off road
