Portugal - Anyone know any decent routes/trails
      #32214 - 04/06/2009 20:16

I'm heading to Portugal and will be traveling around in the north from near the Spanish border down to central Portugal. This is just a family holiday, but if there's anything worth riding I'm thinking of taking my bike.

Anyone in the know.......??

Craig, give themountainbikeadventure a call before you go http://www.themountainbikeadventure.com/
Jim is a really good guy and will take you on some very good rides. It would be VERY hard to navigate on your own.

I'm off there in a couple of months with a few mates. There are some absolutely fabulous trails but completely hidden unless you have local knowledge. I got lucky and hooked up with a couple of ex-Pats who showed me some stuff near Paderne, just north of Albufiera. We did 55km of which maybe 10k was on tarmac.

Try also www.outdoortours.net It's not clear on his website, but he does rent out route maps, so you can go "self-guided". I did the "orange" route a couple of years ago and found it a superb ride.

Cheers,
Mick
