A new noseless bike seat has been launched in the UK, and we're eager to get feedback.
The seat was developed to allow the user to cycle without unnecessary discomfort. Originally designed by Thomas White, former head of industrial design at Boeing Commercial Airplane the ECD seat has been designed to remove the issues often associated with riding on traditional cycle seats, which push a rider’s weight forward onto the sensitive perineal area, with 22 per cent of total body weight resting on the ‘nose’ of the saddle. However, The ECD Seat - launched just last week in the UK, has a startlingly different profile as the long thin part of the seat, known as the ‘nose’, has been removed. This gives a wide range of riders – from commuting to pleasure and general fitness - the enjoyment and health benefits of a longer ride without paying the price of discomfort or risk to their health, as it moves the rider’s weight evenly back onto his or her ‘sit bones’.
This seat is ergonomically designed so that weight is evenly distributed and taken entirely by the seat. This also enables riders to sit in a more natural and comfortable position.
The US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has published compelling statistics showing the significant health impacts of frequent, longer cycling on both men and women. - http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/blog/nsb042209_bikesaddle.html
So what do you think, we'd love to hear your thoughts. Further information on www.ecdsports.com

I like the photo on their site- the saddle can't be that comfortable seeing as the guy isn't actually sitting on it!

looks interesting, you wont really have as many position options and you cant move forward on the saddle when climbing, plus i think id miss it if i sat down too fast! looks quite comfy though, maybe more for commuting.

tbh no one i know has experienced sexual disfunction from riding a bike with a normal saddle so i think it might be a case of making a solution to a problem that never really existed. if i get a sexual disfunction from riding with a normal seat, i'll apologise, but to me, just as a first impression, it seems its a bit pointless. and everyone has ball discomfort on a bike, thats what padded pants are for. i dunno, maybe its worth getting one but for now im gonna stick with my normal seat until something down, er yeah you know what i mean, goes wrong because of my trusty saddle.

i do get numbness occaisionally, but i am not convinced it would be comfy. infact it looks a bit too wide at the back
if ECD want to send me one for a two week trial i would happily do a report and return it

I reckon, if I wanted one of these saddles, it would be cheaper just to hack the front of my saddle.
But to tell you the truth, I find that I don't get any discomfort with my saddle, apart from when I'm forward on a steep climb for a long time. In which case with the noseless saddle I think it would be even more uncomfy as I'd be on the top tube.
