Just wondered if anyone had rode Llandegla and if its any good? Thinking of going up one time but i went to wharncliffe woods recently and wasn't impressed although it was seriously boggy as it had been raining for a few days beforehand. trail centres not usually my thing but thought it would be worth a go! Also what's cannock chase like is there enough riding to keep you there for a day?

Hi Brij
Llandegla is a load of fun, not really a technical ride as such, as the terrain is pretty much smooth for the most part, It is pretty much like a high speed roller coaster in the way it is designed, lots of compression's and high sided berms and lots of tabletop jumps Fun Fun Fun! but only about one and a half to two hours to complete.
Cannock is completely the opposite as it is mostly technical sections of slippery off camber corners on a slippery pebble riddled type terrain, there are lots of newer sections that have been built recently that are pretty darn good with berms and a few jumps plus near the beginning there is a skinny raised log to balance along! so its still very much good fun if its a local fast blast you're after! As for travelling for a full day then no its not really gonna keep you amused for more than an hour and a half. there is lots of off piste stuff to but unless you rode there before F.T.D then you probably won't find any of it!
Hope this helps?

Hi Proph & Brij ,
Cannock is well worth a blast , FTD is pretty good (log section at start is currently unrideable - Tree fallen across it. Doh )but there is still plenty to do there , if you guys and Sir Q can get your heads together I will show you some of the 'off-piste' trails and the downhill course side ( Little bringewood is shaping up to be a nice little techy bit ). Some of the off-piste trails are truly awesome especially the monkey and some nice trails over Brereton hill side as well if you guys haven't been there before , get your heads together fellas and let me know .

Hey Doc
Long time no speak! I'm heading over there tomorrow night after work with a few work buddies (off my web site, Sam, Steve, Andy) just gonna do F.T.D as time will be short and need to get back to the good wife!

These trails are like Trail centre sections, i.e numbered and approx 5 mins or so per section, I would say not like North face (even though never even seen it) more like these 3 pages, go to the bottom of each and the link to the next page is there
If you like Epic type rides then why not give Macc forest up to Cat n Fiddle, Three Shires Head, down to Cumberland brook and back up to Macc forest a try, see here some images, and here is a review Macc forest area

My mate spent weekend in Edale said it was brilliant (didn't ride just camping) but said quite a few riders out that way and said would be worth a visit!
Mam Tor, Dark Peak does sound good need to get up that way more, just a long way to go for me so its fitting it all in is the problem!
I guess the thing to do is try something new when the opportunity arises, that way you get to ride everything or at leat more than you would if you just stuck to the same trails weekend after weekend!
happy riding whatever your choice Pal.

Hi mate thats the thing i always ride in the dark peak so thought may give a trail centre a chance but cant seem to pull myself away from that area! i dont know how far you are from that area it takes me about 45 mins drive but well worth it every time as there is so much variety in riding.

Doc/ brij
Sorry already gone doc, was my last post so didn't read on later!! to be honest I wouldn't have been much of a riding partner, rode home from work yesterday then went for a 4 mile fast walk with wifey and my legs were shot around Cannock, I ended up trailing behind my buddies with them waiting for me! no fun!!!
brij, I'm about 45-55 minutes from Macclesfield (from the south) longer if the traffic is heavy, but do love the feeling of the great outdoors when up there! But hey give a trail centre a try (if you haven't already that is?) I think they are like all the favourite bits from your favourite natural all rolled into one easy package, guaranteed fun!

i was at llandegla two weeks ago and it will be a while for me yet till it loses it's magic. there are parts where you just hold on non stop. i live 50 mins away and you could do it in 3 hours. if you were there for a day you'd not think twice about doing it again, and it's well worth it.
