Knee
      #28343 - 30/04/2009 16:57

Just found out I've got to have surgery on my knee within the next month.

I've torn the cartilage on the inner side of my left knee, so the surgeon is gunna dive in there and dig around a bit and pull out the broken bits!

Unfortunately its gunna leave me off my bike for quite some time.
BooHoo!
let the misery commence!

VJs hand
CBs arm(s)
Ben's knee
legs...either not having one (through allowing it to trail all over the flippin road!) or both hurting...
sore behinds
What else??

One thing I can say however...

MRI scan images are very cool!
He showed me my knee, Its like someone had sliced through my knee and was showing me it slice by slice!

So if you ever have one, have a gander at the images!

If you are nice and take a CD, you may be able to get a copy to take home with you....
I got mine, but then I worked in the hospital IT dept and knew the system manager. It wil come with a player, they have the ability so that they can send them to other hossies incase they do not use the same system.

I'm pretty sure that you are entitled to your MRI results by law but it may take a while to get them, not the 5mins it took me.

Surgery done...
Swelling nearly gone...

Physio has told me to get on with my life. If it hurts my knee, put some ice on it. Although she did suggest exercise bikes and road riding before I get back to the real stuff.

So almost there now, and hopefully when the wounds have healed up completely it will feel good as new. Apart from the tear in the cartilage, my knee was in tip top condition (he had a good look around whilst he was in there!).

I've definitely missed the riding, I have on a couple of occasions cleaned the house, done tasks I'd been putting of for years and even tried to bake bread!

So can't wait to get back in the saddle!

glad to hear it's gone well.. don;t push too hard to start with, but defo get back into doing stuff with your knee asap.. will stop wastage and only serve to strengthen you knee. I started on my bike after a reocuring dyslocation of my knee.. in my experience even the small things like putting your weight on it and delivberately bending it how you would do normally when walking will make a big difference early on. Push yourslf for getting back on track but don' push too hard (you are the only person who knows how much is too much so be vigilant!) until it really has settled down.
Good luck with the recovery...

Second that. Push to a limit that only you know, but don't be afraid to take a day off when your brain is really wanting to go and your knee is not.
