groin strain/muscle?
      #28137 - 29/04/2009 12:08

anyone else have a problem with their groin, or specifically one side? just of late well over the last 3 rides, ive been straining my right groin, it initially happened nearing the end of a 17mile ride up a bank....now it was really painful over night and i struggled to walk the next day, i rested it all week and didnt ride till sunday just gone, was a bit tender throughout the week but by the sunday it seemed pretty much fine, i had a good stretch early in the morning and again it seemed fine.....the ride at the peaks was more demanding than trail centres id done and other rides, and included alot of pushing up unrideable rocky passes, however i was fine until the very end of the ride, and i felt it go again!!!! it was rideable back to the van no problem as i was concentrating on the downbanks, but again now its wednesday and i wanna go out again tonight and its still abit sore....

its doing my head in, cant just keep going out for a ride once every sunday then not be able to ride all week...plus its gonna end up limiting where i can ride and obviously the length of the ride

any ways any one else had any similar problems? is there anything i can do to eleviate the pain etc?? it doesnt even feel strained when i was riding, could just tell groin area was tensing up

If rest is not fixing it, then speak to a quack.

I had this for a while. Turned out it was aproblem with my Hip rathere than my actual groin. The pain you are feeling may be caused by something else other than your groin!

Get to the docs mate and get it sorted out.

Groin strain can be the start of an inguinal hernia - don't panic, it sounds horrible but it's very common - as much as 10% of guys get it some time in their life. I got one a few years ago - sorted by a simple surgery and R&R.
Bottom line is it CAN get horrible, so get it looked at asap. And if it is, then take all the rest you can and don't rush back into things like I did - I went back to work after a week and now I'm paying with a re-occurance
Also there's a couple of different surgical methods to sorting the problem, so ask questions and make sure you explore the options.

Cheers
