Holiday company Bike Verbier, based in Switzerland, has introduced remote day rides for 2009, extending well beyond the confines of the legendary Verbier ‘bowl’, sometimes crossing into neighbouring France and Italy.
Bike Verbier is also moving to a new purpose-renovated chalet for the summer season, in Etiez near Verbier, from which the new rides will run.
The new chalet has en-suite rooms, full workshop, bar and laundry facilities, and a private garden. Riders can start from the chalet itself, use the lift system or the company’s minibus.
Company owner and guide, Lucy Martin, explained: “Our holidays will still offer all the benefits and creature comforts that earned us a great reputation among regular guests and visiting journalists, but in 2009 we’ll be adding some unbelievably exciting new routes that have taken years of exploring to put together. Riders who like a healthy dose of challenge and adventure, coupled with breathtaking scenery and singletrack, definitely won’t be disappointed.”
