7Stanes

Ok which 7Stanes trail/s is/are best? I have only one or maybe possible two days riding so will not be able to do all eight trails and wanted advise from locals and people who have ridden any of the trails.

Please give example of what the trail has to offer (jumps, berms, wood work, rocks, drops etc) and how much!

Any advise is welcome even if somebody else has already plugged one of the trails as I want to know how many people like that trail and what different people thought of it themselves.

Thanks in advance

Prophet check out

www.scottishmountainbike.com

it'll give you an idea of what each trail centre offers and will provide you a map of the trails. Some have bike mounted camera views of the trails, but to be honest I don't really think these do them justice.

Glentress will give you a bit of everything as it caters for all. My personal favoutites are Kirroughtree and Drumlanrig. If it's wood work your after try the black route at Maybe forest but be warned it is HARD CORE!

If I had to pick 1.....Kirroughtree.

Or go here you can download all the maps yourself

http://www.7stanes.gov.uk/

Glad to see you visiting our little corner of the world two days is not enough unfortunatly, it depends what you are after, but with only two days I might try Dalbeattie & Mabie in the one day, then Glentress say Red in the morning black for the rest of the day.

wow, i hope you have not gone yet.
kirroughtree.
you will never ride anything better in britain (my opinion)
this is single track heaven. this trail climbs single track and falls single track. its so so good. also there is a mini moab rock in the middle. follow the arrows on the rock and try not to dab.
there are no horrible long climbs like glenntress, this is a fun fun fun ride.
please make this your last ride, if you do it 1st the rest will be an anti climax.
this is my opinion, if you chose to follow my advice i hope you agree after.

Please let us all know how much "fun" was had going around the 7 Stanes, Itchy & Prof, as I have the feeling that I am a little spoilt, living in Scotland, and no I don't work for any tourist board etc.

Anyway it might be worth putting a mention/review in the top 10 trail center or somwhere so we all can guage current facilities etc. that may influence our travel plans to trail x,y or Z.

Certainly you MUST do Kirroughtree. I would suggest if you only have 2 days that you cover Mabie and Dalbeatie on one day and Kirroughtree on the other. Glentress is ace but gets very crowded so going west is a good plan. I can't press how great Kirroughtree is enough... go do it!!!
