Has anyone else noticed that in the current MBR the subscription offer is wrong? It says "save a massive 25%" when actually you're saving 18% as the full price for 6 months worth of MBR is £24 not the advertised £26. I was gonna take out a subscription, but think I'll wait for the next free gift.

I dont know if MBR is the same as Mountain biking UK with their subs, with MBUK to get the free gifts you have to have a direct debit every 3 months to get them,if you pay a full sub for the year you dont get the free gifts. So beware, ask first otherwise you loose out.

Fellas Let me clear up some of the confusion. I'm told the disparity in the percentage saving is because we now publish 13 issues per year, not one per month. Secondly, you have been able to get a free gift with both online and print subs for some time now, but these gifts are only available for new subscribers only — and it doesn't matter how you pay, direct debit or not. I don't know of any magazines that offer 'gifts' to existing subscribers, it would be too costly to do. That's why we make a point of offering existing subscribers a discount or better 'renewal deal'. Of course there's nothing to stop people ending one sub and starting a new one to get a gift, but you end up missing 2-3 issues while the admin wheels are whirring. Hope that makes some sense. But if anyone does have any specific queries, please contact our Subs Dept on 01444 475675 and they'll give you more details. Cheers

With the percentage thing: in a six month subscription you will get 6 mags not 6 1/2, so the total cost is £24 not £26, the percentage you save is still incorrect. It will be correct, however, if the subscriber carries on the subscription for another 6 months and your subs department lets the offer roll over to the second part of the year. In which case the offer in the mag should be for a year and not 6 months! As I said in my original post I was going to take out a subscription and contacted your subs department, they realised it was incorrect when I told them but they couldn't do anything about it.

I would like to add to this but move on to the offer in the current issue (June 2008)
I've been waiting for the right free gift to tempt me in to subscribing, I open up my newly purchased copy this afternoon and there it is, a waterproof jacket - and its one that I have been considering purchasing. Fantastic.
Or is it. As I was getting ready to set up my subscription I realise that you are actually only offering 4 out of the 6 sizes available in this jacket and as I am on the slightly larger than average side it means that you don't have my size on offer. Huge disappointment.
Is there anyone that can suggest a reason as to why you don't have the XXl and XXXL sizes available when the jacket is produced in these sizes?

Hi Stu, I think the problem is that the subscribtions people at IPC (the publishers of MBR) actually have to buy the stock of free gifts in advance. I imagine that they would be concerned that they would be lumbered with a huge unsold stock of XXXL jackets if they offered them, so it's easier to stick to the more popular s-xl sizes. Not necesarily the opinion of the people who write MBR, but I can see that's how the money men who pay our wages might see it. Soz

At least you got a free jacket, I subscribed online at the same time and didn't get anything because I used tesco vouchers which was the 'cheaper subscription' even though it's more expensive than the online offer... no it doesn't make sense to me either!
