Hi I was very interested in the article in this months mag re 100mm travel forks. I have been XC riding for about 6 years now and still have the same hardtail XC frame. At present I have a set of 80mm travel Rock shox forks, which have seen better days. I was wondering what the effect would be of fitting 100mm travel forks to a frame that was designed for 80mm. |

Hey there GPZ, Nice ride 'the original Ninja' do you have one and from which year? Juicy Fruit? It depends on the frame, what's the manufacturers specs etc? If you bought it when you started around 6 years ago chances are that 100mm travel forks won't improve things, you'll be slackening the head angle and slowing the steering down and also increasing the stress on the head welds. OR if the bike had a number of editions with differing choices you might be lucky and have a frame that could handle the extra 20mm. Your man for all the info on Geometery is Prophet1000 and your man for just bolting stuff on and ripping up the trails is VT1Doc 2 sides of the same coin. You could always send it off to be serviced, you'll be amazed the difference that can make. |
