Hi itchy, There's quite a few posts on these forums regarding taking bikes on planes, Tracey certainly had some issues with airlines and from what I've seen would reccommend a hard case over a cheaper soft one. The brutalities of the baggage handlers aside I've taken my bikes down to Austria (Sallbach/Hinterglemm) but decided it was better and easier to drive down! I'll be flying next time though and will probably take one bike. Squeezy Jet will allow sports equipment on flights and quote terms and prices on their website. They do make mention though that only the bike can be stored in the bag and all your clobber should go in your normal luggage. Although it has to be said that it's a close call about having your dearly beloved (and the Mrs to help carry your gear) with you versus hiring something out there. |
