The other day, after a hard ride i returned to the campsite and went to the car for a beer, sat down by my steed and realised i'd forgot my bottle opener! i looked at the bike for some inspiration, and realised if you wedge the (obviously) upright bottle in the rear/thickest spd clamp on the pedal, angle it right and apply pressure, hey presto! Those of us with clipless pedals are all riding giant bottle openers!!

Quality!
A brilliant piece of thinking on your feetthere Itchy! Hat's off and all that, fellow!
I will try it with my Crank Bros Smarty's and report back... If it doens't work should I buy some Spuds, or stick to cans?
NO! NO! NO! I will persevere, so that those of us not fortunate enough to have Spuds can still enjoy a trendier beer!
Will report back later.

I think that it's a lifestyle chioce.
Crank bros Smarty's are just ok with bottles... Also with those people riding Specialized bikes you an also dissasembthe the stem and wedge the bottle in it, retighten it and it will come off...the same goes for Thompson seat posts... But that is hardcore stuff...
You could always ask others on the campsite for a loan of an opener (with any luck they will forget you borrowed it and you can keep it - and if they leave before you then it's not stealing). Caravaners always have loads of them as well...
However I have a bottle opener on my car keys, difficult to use whilst driving, but workable none the less.
Far too much caffeine today and not enough work...

You also got a free wiggle bottle opener within some dodgy mag a while back and I have a vague memory that there is actually a bike manufacturer who incorporates an opener at the end of the chain/seatstay by the rear mech but I can't remember who it is. Cove, Orange, Charge????
PS Wiggle must have loads of em left coz everytime I order something they bung in a key ring!

O.k, O.k, i was drunk when i thought of the idea, but the genius was that my bike was right behind me and i didn't need to hike back to the car to get my bottle opener!
Can anyone recommend a front tubeless tyre for general XC use? Nokian NBX Lite on the back but my hutchinson on the front's goin to need replacin' soon...........
