Riding the steeps can seem daunting enough. But when the run-out is an unsculpted transition onto a flat surface, the whole prospect is rendered even more off-putting. When riding natural trails, whether they are in the local forest or up on a wild and exposed mountainside somewhere, eventually you will have to negotiate a section of trail that has a harsh, sometimes unforeseen change in gradient. More often than not, these obstacles result in the rider resorting to walking the section or, worst case, a painful crash. By following the next few steps, you should be able to garner enough knowledge to feel more confident on your approach and continue your ride over these sections without interruption.
